Florida is famous for theme parks. The park that started it all was Disney World in Orlando and Disney continues to be the anchor for central Florida vacations. But there are many other theme parks that are worth visiting in Central Florida and in many other parks of the state.

Central Florida Theme Parks

Disney World, Sea World, and Islands of Adventure are our 3 top picks for theme parks in Orlando.

Disney World is excellent for younger children and kids of all ages. If you have never been there before you can easily spend 2 days or longer.

Sea World is a must see. It’s great for all ages and you will be amazed by the sea life including Killer Whales, Seals, Walrus, Dolphins, Manatees, Sharks and more. To see everything at Sea World plan on spending an entire day.

If you love rides then Islands of Adventure is for you. There are rides for all ages ranging from Seuss Landing, which has rides for younger children like Cat in the Hat to the Hulk Roller Coaster that will thrill the most seasoned roller coaster lover. There are also water rides such as Dudley Do-Right’s Ripsaw Falls that will cool you off in the Hot Florida sun.

There are hundreds of other attractions in the Orlando and nearby areas - here are a few highlights:

Kennedy Space Center is directly east of Orlando on the coast in Titusville. You can see a space shuttle up close, ride in the shuttle simulator, and see the launch pads.

Want to spend the day cooling off and having fun in the sun! Visit Wild Waters theme park in Ocala, FL.

Wild Waters is located in Silver Springs, FL adjacent to Silver Springs Nature Park.  To get to wild waters from Ocala, just head east on State Road 40 about 10 miles or so. 

Adventure Landing

Adventure Landing in Jacksonville is a mini theme park with a water park, game room, go carts and putt putt golf course right off Beach Blvd in Jacksonville.

Dolphin Research Center - Grassy Key

The Dolphin Research Center is a a non-profit education facility based in the Florida Keys.  If you want to get close to a dolphin, swim with a dolphin, or just pet a dolphin the Dolphin Research Center is the place.

Miami Seaquarium

Visit the Miami Seaquarium for a rare chance to swim with dolphins and learn all about one of the most friendly and intelligent marine mammals. The Miami Seaquarium has been in Miami since 1955.

Disney World

Disney World in Orlando is one of the top vacation destinations in the world and no one knows how to create a theme park better than Disney.  If you have never been to Disney you can easily spend a week especially with all the other attractions in central Florida such as Sea World, Universal Studios, and Islands of Adventure.

Roller coasters, rides, animals, shows, and the famous Clydesdale horses are a few of the things you will see at Busch Gardens in Tampa.
