Ironman 70.3 races consist of a 1.2 mile swim, a 56-mile bike and a 13.1 mile run adding up to 70.3 miles. The Ironman 70.3 series is half the distance of a full Ironman triathlon and is the fastest growing triathlon series in the world.

The half Ironman triathlon takes place in Orlando Florida on May 16, 2010. In 2009, the athletes competed for a pro prize of $30,000 and 75 qualifying spots for the Ironman World Championship 70.3 held in Clearwater Florida every November.
The course takes you around the Disney World parks and western Orange County Florida. The 1.2 mile swim takes place on Bay Lake located at Fort Wilderness in Walt Disney World. The 56 mile bike course travels through western Orange County with only one section of gently rolling hills. Last, the 13.1 mile run takes you on bike paths and canal roads around Fort Wilderness.
Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground is hosting the Ironman 70.3 Florida. Athletes are encouraged to stay at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground or Disney’s Wilderness Lodge. The hotels are both located within walking distance about 2 kilometers to the athlete village where the race starts and finishes.
