Youth Fiddle and Open String Band Contest at the Cane Boil

During Thanksgiving weekend, come enjoy the Longleaf Pine Youth Fiddle and Open String Band Contest at the Cane Boil in Gainesville, FL

On November 26, 2011 there will be costumed Living History Farm staff cutting, pressing, and boiling sugar cane juice into syrup while demonstrating what life was like on a Florida farm in the 1870’s.

The City of Gainesville Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs, Nature Operations Division has organized the Longleaf Pine Youth Fiddle and Open String Band Contest at the Cane Boil.

It’s a fun day for the whole family and this event showcases what Thanksgiving is all about.  This event brings together the traditions of giving thanks and fall harvest with a music tradition from the South. Fiddlers can join the contest for free at this annual event on Saturday, November 26, 2011 from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.  The Morningside Nature Center Living History Farm is located at 3540 East University Avenue.  Kids can also enjoy watching the animals fed daily at 9:00 am and 3:00 pm daily.
