The Department of Environmental Protection’s Eden Gardens State Park and the Friends of Eden invite you to a holiday tour of the Historic Wesley House. You’ll enjoy a traditional walk through the luminaries to the beautifully holiday decorated Historic Wesley House. Visitors will be greeted by Civil War reenactors, who will act as hosts for each room. After the tour is complete the Friends of Eden will provide refreshments in the pavilion and the reenactors will invite all to the small encampment on the north lawn.
The Florida state park features a beautifully renovated, two-story house with elegant white columns and wrap-around porch. Surrounded by moss-draped live oaks and ornamental gardens, the Historic Wesley House was owned in the 1800s by the Wesleys, a wealthy Florida timber family. In 1963, Lois Maxon bought and renovated the home. She created a showplace for her family heirlooms and antiques. The collection of Louis XVI furniture is the second largest in the United States.
