Bike Florida 2012 “Forgotten Coast Tour” was created to promote safe cycling practices. Bike Florida was established as a fundraising event to help support the Florida Traffic and Bicycle Safety Education Program with proceeds supporting bicycle safety education and a regional training team that hosts bicycle safety education workshops for school teachers, youth leaders and law enforcement officers.
Bike Florida’s Course
Cyclists travel 40 to 65 miles a day with a Century option on day 3. completing a total of 250 miles. The ride begins and ends in Tallahassee Florida. The course loop takes you through Quincy, Wewahitchka, Apalachicola, Medart, and back to Tallahassee. On the journey you’ll visit state parks, historic sites and attractions. You’ll also ride through historic Florida towns, past lovely springs and lazy rivers, and coastline. Evening entertainment varies from movies, live music, beach party,museums and more. Cyclists stay at local hotels or campsites. Restaurants suggestions for meals are marked along the way, check website for meal plan option. Bike Florida is a non-profit organization whose mission is to promote safe cycling in Florida.
