I Like It Hot Festival

The I Like It Hot Festival is the largest spicy food event in the state of Florida. The event will take place in Largo, FL on September 9 - 10, 2017. In addition to being able to sample and purchase spicy food and sauces, there are also contests to enter:  Amateur Salsa, Amateur Hot Sauce, and Pepper Eating. There will also be a variety of hot pepper plants to purchase, and live music for your listening pleasure.

Tampa Boat Show

Come to Tampa’s largest and longest running boat show! The Tampa Boat show takes place from September 8 - 10, 2017 at the Tampa Convention Center in Tampa, Florida. 

Key West Lobsterfest

Live music, cold drinks, and fresh lobster! The Annual Key West Lobsterfest takes place in August.  Lobster lovers will converge in Key West to take part of the three-day event.  Celebrations go on throughout the entire weekend, including the famous Duval Crawl on Friday night.  Lobsterfest benefits a scholarship fund for Key West High School Students.

Key West Lobster Fest

Lobster season means the Key West Lobster Fest and tons of lobster, music, and partying on Duval Street.

Hemingway Days

Hemingway Days in Key West is held at Sloppy Joes and is a look alike contest, as well as many other activities


The Pulitzer Prize winning author, Ernest Hemingway, lived in Key West in the 1930’s at 907 Whitehead Street.  His home is now a registered National Historic Landmark and still has his writing studio where he spent hours and hours writing.  His home has the first pool every built in Key West. He also loved the Keys lifestyle by visting Sloppy Joe’s on a regular basis and deep sea fishing with family and friends.

You’ll see amazing look a-likes to Ernest Hemingway during the festival with stocky white-bearded men resembling him.  There will be readings and book signings by nationally acclaimed authors, a museum exhibit of rare Hemingway memorabilia, a fun and crazy “Running of the Bulls” and a 3-day marlin fishing tournament.





There will be Recipe Contests, mango-themed games and arts and crafts. Mango Mania tshirts and recipe books will be available for purchase, and a free mango tasting table will be available to all patrons.

  • Florida Keys Underwater Music Festival

    The underwater music festival is all about divers, snorkelers and wacky underwater musical instrument


    Local Keys artist, August Powers, has sculpted numerous aquatic instruments to go along with the music.     Sprint Course:
    Swim - 1/4 mile swim in the Atlantic Ocean (beach start) with a fresh water shower for transition #1. Swim caps are provided in your race packet and must be worn during the swim.

    Bike - 16 miles on flat, fast, out and back course along the coastline of scenic Amelia Island on NE Florida’s beautiful Atlantic coastline.

    Run - 3 miles out and back with water stations at mile marks. The run course is out and back through the North Fletcher island community.

    Olympic Course:
    Swim- 1.5K (0.93 miles) Swim in the warm waters of the Atlantic Ocean.

    Bike- 40K (24.7 miles) Flat course with one bridge through scenic Amelia Island.

    Jefferson County kicks off the beginning of every summer with a Watermelon Festival!  Activities are scheduled throughout the month of June ending on the 17th with a street celebration!  Visitors enjoy watermelon along with an antique car show, rodeo, fashion show, children’s theater 5K run, parade, games/contests, live music and entertainment, and much more.





    This is the only sanctioned US Coast Guard Permitted Race around Key West. Swimmers and relay teams swim 12.5 miles clockwise around the island of Key West beginning and finishing on Higgs Beach (1000 Atlantic Blvd). Awards given to the the overall top- male and female finishers and the top 6 finishers in each age group.  Pre-race check is Friday, June 9 1 pm-7pm at the Florida Keys Community College pool.





    All proceeds from the tournament go to the Guides Trust Foundation to support professional fishing guides and back country fishery conservation programs.

    The Blue Crab Festival kickoff is Friday, May 26 at 5:30 pm with live music.  There are 7 city blocks of Arts and Crafts, Fine Arts, Antiques, Family Activities, and Food.  A Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony honoring our military takes place on Monday.

The Folk Life Program will feature the counties of Southwest Florida.     The 9th Annual Battle in the Bay Dragon Boat Festival will be held on May 20, 2017, on Sombrero Beach in Marathon, Florida Keys.  There are twenty paddlers per boat who paddle to the beat of a drummer seated inside the bow and are guided to the finish line by the steersman inside the stern.  A portion of this year’s event proceeds benefits Heron Peacock Supported Living.

    The 52nd Anniversary of the Pompano Beach’s Fishing Rodeo takes place May 17 - 21, 2017.  Fishing is on Friday and Saturday, May 19 - 20. The awards banquet takes place Sunday, May 21. The events take place at Alsdorf Park at the 14th Street Boat Ramps in Pompano Beach.

    Pompano Beach Fishing Rodeo History

    The Fishing Rodeo started in 1965 by the Pompano Beach Chamber of Commerce to keep winter tourists in South Florida longer than the winter months.  The tournament was named the Fishing Rodeo because it is a “roundup” of the most popular fishing species. In 1978, the Pompano Beach Fishing Rodeo was incorporated as a non-profit corporation.

    Stroll through historic Sanford interacting with over 150 local, regional, and national artists as they perfect their craft before your eyes.  Visitors will have the opportunity to observe and participate in the art- education venues as well as enjoy live music and culinary delights during the weekend.





    This annual event is a fun, sandy and popular sand sculpting contest on Siesta Key.  All day long you can enjoy watching the sand sculptures being created by artists of all ages.

    Registration begins at 8:30 am, judging at 1pm with winners announcement at 2 pm. There are cash prizes for first, second, and third place for each category.  The categories include adult - humorous, adult - miscellaneous, children - 10 years and younger, and children 11-17 years of age.

    The 39th Annual Siesta Fiesta is a breezy Arts and Craft Festival along the beach in Siesta Key Village in Sarasota, Florida. Over 250 talented artists and crafters will be in attendance.  A great opportunity to view or purchase unique and one-of-kind art, sculptures, photos and more.  There will be a green market featuring plants, body products, and specialty food items.

    The Pompano Beach Seafood Festival is located at the East end of Atlantic Boulevard in Pompano Beach.  The main entrance to the festival is on the corner of Atlantic and A1A.  Other entrances are on Pompano Beach Boulevard about 300 feet South of the Pompano Pier and Britney Avenue and Atlantic.

    Parking is available at municipal lots on the beach across from the Pier at NE 2nd Street and on Riverside Drive.  There is paid parking on private lots and other areas on Atlantic Boulevard.  Free trolley service runs from the parking lots at both Wachovia and Washington Mutual Banks.

    Take a 6.8 mile run over the 7 Mile Bridge in Marathon with 1500 runners completely surrounded by the beautiful emerald waters of the Florida Keys.

    The 7 Mile Bridge Run is in its 35th year.

    The Race starts at 7:30 AM and runners are allowed 80 minutes to cross the bridge.

    Race Packets can be picked up on Friday, April 8th at the Holiday Inn Express.

    The Palm Beach International Boat Show has every thing from 8 foot inflatables to 150 Super Yachts


    From March 23 - 26, 2017, the 32nd Annual Palm Beach International Boat Show will have the leading marine manufacturers at Palm Harbor Marina.  Boats and yachts of all sizes including power boats, fishing boats, center consoles, bow riders, personal watercraft and super yachts will be at this boat show.

    Show entrances are at the intersection of Evernia St and Flagler Dr. and the intersection of North Clematis St and Flagler Drive.

    There will be plenty of events for the whole family to enjoy - Kids’ Fishing Clinics, Fishing Seminars, TrawlerPort, music, food and drinks.     Bike Florida 2017 “Gullah Geechee” of Florida.  The Wagon Wheel Tour takes riders throughout St. Johns and Putnam counties with the convenience of returning to the same base camp each evening.  Riders learn about the Gullah Geechee culture in Florida as they raise awareness in communities about improving local cycling trails and facilities.  Bike Florida was created to promote safe cycling practices. Bike Florida was established as a fundraising event to help support the Florida Traffic and Bicycle Safety Education Program with proceeds supporting bicycle safety education and a regional training team that hosts bicycle safety education workshops for school teachers, youth leaders and law enforcement officers.

    Cyclists choose their ride,  averaging 35 -100 miles/day.  St. Johns Fairgrounds check-in begins Saturday, March 18. Indoor and outdoor camping, RV hookup as well as nearby hotels are available to riders.  Various meal plans by the Dixie Grille, local restaurants, and beverage tents on site will provide a variety of meals.  Bike Florida is a non-profit organization whose mission is to promote safe cycling in Florida.





    The Coral Springs Festival of the Arts is a two day festival showcasing art, culture and works from over 175 of the nation’s best artists.  You can walk among life size sculptures, view one of a kind paintings, and beautiful photography.  Also available is jewelry, ceramics, live music and a Green Market.

    About the Festival

    Each year more than 350,000 visitors enjoy the show.  This year about 1,100 artists from around the world applied and judges selected 225 national and international artists along with 3 emerging artists to exhibit at the show.  An all volunteer board of directors runs the annual Festival.

    Held along the A1A oceanfront, the 29th Annual Art Fest by the Sea has become a popular festival with its beautiful location.  Festival attendees will view life size sculptures, ceramics, and paintings while enjoying a warm ocean breeze. 
    Directions:
    The festival is located on A1A (Ocean Boulevard) on Juno Beach overlooking the beach.  Take I-95 to Jupiter, and exit on Donald Ross Road (Exit 83.) Head east to A1A on the beach.  At Donald Ross Road and US 1, go north, and enter the show site through Loggerhead Park.  Free parking and shuttle service available at the FPL lot on Universe Blvd & Ellison-Wilson Road. Free shuttles will be running 10AM-5PM from parking lot to festival show site!

    Charities that Benefit

    The Amelia Island Concous d’ Elegance benefits many local charities in the Jacksonville area including the Community Hospice of Northeast Florida which cares for hundreds of terminally ill children and adults in North Florida each year regardless of their ability to pay. This event has raised over $2.2 million for Hospice.  Other charities are the Spina Bifida Association of Florida at Jacksonville (SBAJ), Shop with Cops, Duval County 4-H Foundation, and Navy Marine Corps Relief Society.

    The Annual Central Florida Fair takes place March 2 - 19, 2017.  Started in 1910, the Central Florida Fair averages 250,000 in attendance. The fair is located on 87 acres near downtown Orlando and will give out $200,000 in prize money for various competitions.

    Rides, Exhibits, and Entertainment

    There are more than 100 rides from stomach dropping thrillers for the adrenaline seekers to Kiddie Land for the youngest riders. Other exhibits and contests at the Central Florida Fair include:

    Creative Arts – with nearly 3,000 handmade items in over 200 categories, including Fine Arts, Needlework, and Crafts and Hobbies.
    Food Arts and Sciences – a feast of baked goods, canned fruits, decorated cakes, and decorative touches for the home, plus dozens of daily chef demonstrations on a state-of-the-art kitchen stage.
    Horticulture – lush displays of flowers and foliage, plus information on gardening, water conservation, landscaping, and more.
    FFA – local middle and high school chapters present educational booths on landscaping, animal husbandry, veterinary care, and more.
    4-H – this leadership-building organization presents a year’s worth of youth activities in informative booths and creative contests.
    Livestock – featuring over 2,000 cows, horses, sheep, hogs, goats, chickens, and rabbits.
    Entertainment – over 100 groups featuring 800 singers, dancers and musicians on three stages.

     

    Central Florida Fair Livestock

    The Central Florida Fair has been celebrating the agricultural heritage of Florida for over 100 years. More than 2,600 entries annually, the Central Florida Fair presents one of the largest livestock shows in the Florida region.  In 2006, a horse show was introduced.

    The popular Trawler Fest returns to Stuart, Florida February 28 - March 4, 2017 . Visit the Hutchinson Island Marriott Beach Resort and Marina to view in-water displays as well as see the industry’s latest products and services.  Tips by professionals, demonstrations,  seminars, and boating classes are held throughout the weekend.  Attendees and exhibitors can enjoy the end of day with with music, cocktails, and dinner and other activities.

    The 52nd Annual Old Island Days Art Festival brings nationally recognized artists from around the country to display their beautiful paintings from watercolor to oil and acrylic, decorative sculptures, photography, and other fine art. 





    Held in historic downtown Stuart on Osceola Boulevard, the Downtown Stuart Art Festival has become one of the main art fairs in the area. The show is set up along Osceola Street in Stuart’s historic downtown area. This 27th year event brings together some of the best artists in the nation, displaying life-size sculptures, spectacular paintings, one of a kind jewels, photography and more.





    The Siesta Key Craft Fair is an all craft event that takes place along Ocean Boulevard and Beach Road in Sarasota, Florida.  All of the crafts are handmade in the United States of America.  You’ll find lots of treasures including handmade jewelry, ceramics, stained glass, paintings, photography and more.
