Boats of all sizes decorate Jacksonville’s waterways in this annual event.  Participants use their imaginations as they compete for the grand prize.  Following the parade, there will be a brilliant firework display lit from barges in front of the Landing.

Parade Viewing - The parade can be seen from both the northbank and southbank of the downtown riverfront. Families can bring their chairs, blankets to the riverfront for this magical evening.

Parade Route - The parade begins at Metropolitan Park and travels along the Northbank past the Jacksonville Landing and circles to the Southbank. The route continues along the Southbank, under the Main Street Bridge, past the Navy Memorial statue and down to the Duval County School Board Building.

The Ravine Gardens invites everyone to enjoy the gardens illuminated in holiday colors while enjoying music of the season!

A ravine was created over thousands of years by water flowing from the sandy ridges on the shore of the St. Johns River. In 1933, this ravine was transformed into a dramatic garden by the federal Works Progress Administration. Much of the original landscaping still exists as formal gardens and an extensive trail system. A 1.8-mile paved road winds around the ravine, offering motorists and bicyclists a view of the gardens. The Ravine Loop is closed to vehicle traffic one hour before sunset, but remains open for pedestrians, bicycles, and wheelchairs. The garden’s peak flowering period is azalea season, late January to April.

In 1854 Thomas Evans and Serena Chesnut Haile moved their family from Camden, South Carolina to Gainesville, Florida.  They established residency at a 1,500 acre Sea Island cotton plantation. In 1856 the home was completed by enslaved craftsmen. 

The 6,200-square foot plantation home is one of the few remaining antebellum homes in North Central Florida. The restored Historic Haile Homestead is unique in the nation for its “Talking Walls.” The Haile family and friends wrote on the walls of the home using over 12,500 words in total.

The Department of Environmental Protection’s Alfred B. Maclay Gardens State Park invites the public out for the 28th Annual Camellia Christmas celebration.This wonderful old fashion holiday kick off features a candlelight stroll with performances by local musicians, hot apple cider, Santa,cookies, and a silent auction of wonderful items donated by local merchants to benefit your state park. There will also be a tour of the Maclay House decorated in holiday decor.

Islmorada Sailfish Tournament

The Islamorada Sailfish Tournament is the first in three sailfish events in the Florida Keys


The three tournaments in the Florida Keys Gold Cup Sailfish Championship series are:

  • Islamorada Sailfish Tournament from November 30 - December 4, 2017
  • Islamorada Fishing Clubs’ Sailfish Tournament on January 25, 2018
  • Cheeca Lodge Presidential Sailfish Tournament from January 27 - 28, 2018


Anglers from all over the world compete for cash prizes and the coveted Gold Cup Trophy during this 3 fishing tournament series.  It the premier event sailfish tournament in the Florida Keys.

Early registration is important as The Gold Cup Sailfish Championship is limited to 30 teams of fishermen. Anglers compete individually for the championship ring and as a team for cash prizes of up to $30,000 and the Gold Cup Trophy.  Proceeds from the tournament are supporting the Islamorada Charter Boat Association.

The 40th Annual St. Petersburg Power and Sailboat Show, the largest on the Gulf Coast, will be held November 30 - December 3, 2017. The Estates holiday tradition continues for the 42nd year with “Edison and Ford Holiday Nights.”  annual event. The winter homes will be decorated with antique toys from the 1920’s and 1930’s. The Edison Botanic Lab and Estates Museum will be open every evening with special exhibits, as well as nightly holiday performances by area students and groups.  Refreshments available for purchase at the Estates Banyan Cafe’.  Visitors have an option of choosing self- guided or guided tours.


Families will enjoy Santa visits (certain dates) and the “Children’s Tree Trail”  The “Trail”, free to the public, is a lighted pathway of trees decorated with handmade ornaments from Lee County students

Your family will enjoy a mass choir with a 50-piece live orchestra with narrated Christmas stories during the Candlelight Processional.  It is held in the America Gardens Theatre with 3 shows every evening that last for 40 minutes at 5 pm, 6:45 pm, and 8:15 pm.

The Candlelight Processional is a Disney tradition now for the last 42 years. Narrators for 2017 are: Laurie Hernandez, Matt Bomer, Ana Gasteyer, Whoopi Goldberg, Pat Sajak, Jodi Benson, Kurt Russell, Warwick Davis, Trace Adkins, Neil Patrick Harris, CCH Pounder, Jaci Velasquez, and Chandra Wilson.

Admission is free of charge with your admission to Epcot. A dinner package is available for purchase that includes a ticket to Reserved Seating for the Candlelight Processional.  If you do not purchase the dinner package, seating is on a first come, first serve basis for each show.  Visitors line up 45 minutes or longer before the show and seating opens up 15 minutes before each show.  Epcot is located in Osceola County Florida.

The breathtaking ice sculptures are brought to life by a team of 40 artisans from Harbin, China, (a place known for it’s annual International Ice and Snow Festival), who spend over a month in Kissimmee creating the ice sculptures. The exhibit has spectacular fluorescent and fiber optic lights within the ice sculptures. The attraction is kept at 9 degrees Fahrenheit so guests are provided with hooded winter coats to keep warm. 

The theme this season ” ‘Christmas Around the World”.  TWO Million pounds of hand carved ice sculptures in six rooms,  along with 4 ice slides,The Frostbite Factory carving zone make this fun for the entire family!  Gaylord Palms Resort is located in Osceola County Florida.  Room night and package deals are available.

The park is adjacent to the Brevard Community College Melbourne Campus.  It is a 391.04 acre regional park with many recreational facilities. A scenic drive winds through open areas, pine woods and lakes. Nestled in the pine forest are 88 campsites with water and electric hookups, as well as 25 overflow campsites. Shower rooms, laundry, group camping site, and fire pit are nearby.

Recreational amenities include 2 seasonally guarded swimming lakes, disc golf course, horseshoe pits, volleyball courts, playground, multipurpose and soccer fields (home of Space Coast United Soccer). An exercise trail, nature trails, a dog park, and horse trails offer additional attractions, with an equestrian area at the southwest corner of the park.

The 36th Annual Yankeetown Arts and Crafts and Seafood Festival takes place along Riverside Drive in the coastal village of Yankeetown, Florida. Over 100 vendors,  fine art, crafts, games, seafood and live entertainment will provide the entire family with a weekend of fun.





The 38th Annual Horrible Hundred, presented by Florida Freewheelers Inc., offers course option lengths of 35, 70, and 100 miles.  Rest stops every 20 miles will provide water, sports drinks, fruit, and snacks. There will be pre- and post- ride meals provided. 

A 2-day expo will be located at Clermont’s Waterfront Park featuring national cyclist vendors, live music, and great food.  The Waterfront Park is located along Lake Minneola, nestled between East Avenue and Eighth Street.  The park has restroom facilities, picnic areas, beach front swim area and fishing piers.

      The average November weather in Panama City Florida is a high 72 and low 48.  Humidity is about 45% with winds from the northeast at about 8 mph.  The water temperature average ranges from 68 to 72 degrees.

      Ironman Florida Course

      The Ironman Florida starts off with a 2.4 mile swim on the beach behind the Boardwalk Beach Resort, in the Gulf of Mexico. The course is a 2.4 mile two-loop swim.  The water temperature is typically between 68 to 72 degrees this time of the year. The beach is open for spectators to watch the swim event.

      Second, participants in the Ironman take a 112 mile bike ride. The bike portion of this event is flat and fast with possible winds being a factor., although wiind can play a factor in the race. The ride begins and ends at the Boardwalk Beach Resort. The bike course is one loop making it difficult for spectators to view the Ironman due to traffic regulations. The best place to connect with athletes is in the bike transition area.

      Last is the 26.2 mile marathon run which is a 2 loop course with a turnaround at St. Andrews State Park. The run course has mile markers and aid stations about every mile. Traffic cones will be used to separate the runners from the traffic where necessary. The run course travels through Panama City Beach and spectators can line the streets to watch athletes run to the finish.





      Visit historic downtown Sebring for the Highlands Fine Arts Festival.  Patrons can enjoy a weekend of entertainment, live music, fine art, unique gifts, and crafts from 80 artists.  This year’s festival will include a Family Arts Activities Center with children’s art tent, Culinary Street tent filled with food vendors, Chamber Street tent featuring local businesses, and highlighted by The Circle of Artists crafters and fine artists who have made this a premier event over the years.





      Feast of Little Italy lines the streets of Abacoa with over 140 vendors.  Visitors feast on mouthwatering food while watching cooking demos, wine seminars, and listening to live entertainment.

      Musical headliners for 2017 include Atlantic City Boys, Sal Valentinetti, and Tommy Mara. The stage is also set for Performing Arts Academy, Goldner Conservatory of Performing Arts, lasagne and pizza eating contests.  Take part in the Bocce tournament children’s rides, activities and more.

      The first leg of this 70.3 mile sanctioned event will be the 1.2 mile swim in the protected ocean water of downtown Miami.  Participants will then transition to the 56-mile bike ride through scenic tree lined communities.  Finally, the 13.1 mile run will lead athletes along the beautiful waterfront and the Port of Miami.





      The Pumpkin Patch Express tickets include a 90-minute train ride and the selection of a pumpkin from the patch to take home. There will also be Hay Rides, Lincoln Log Building and Crafts. Seating begins 30 minutes prior to departure. First come, first served within your train car.

      The Florida Railroad Museum is located 25 miles west of Sarasota and 35 miles south of Tampa off I-75 exit 229. 





      Thousands flock to this historic fishing village of Cedar Key Florida each year for the popular seafood festival.  Local seafood such as steamed clams, clam chowder, smoked mullet and more are served. Over 200 vendors, showcasing local artists original pieces, craft exhibits, plants and more.

      Live music throughout the weekend and a Saturday morning parade at 11:00 am also takes place during the Cedar Key Annual Seafood Festival.

      Take a shuttle boat to Seahorse Key and tour the lighthouse and explore the island.  Only 3 days during the year the lighthouse and island are open to the public by the US Fish and Wildlife Service.

      There is no charge to enter the lighthouse but there is a charge for the boat rides. Shuttle boats are available at City Marina.  Make sure you wear comfortable shoes as you’ll climb a steep hill up to the lighthouse.
