PGA National Golf Courses

The Resort is home to five tournament golf courses as well as the PGA National Golf Academy located on the Haig range.

The Champion

Original course design by Tom Fazio and then redesigned by Jack Nicklaus in 1990. The Champion is home to the famous “Bear Trap”.  The Bear Trap, designed by Nicklaus, has rated as the top 10 most difficult holes on the Senior PGA Tour.  These three holes, the 15th, 16th, and 17th will challenge golfers at all skill levels.  The Champion has 5 sets of tees, allowing all golfers to play from appropriate distances.

The Palmer

This links-style course with grass bunkers is aptly named after it’s designer, Arnold Palmer.  Mr. Palmer designed this golf course with golf’s Scottish roots in mind as well as his affinity for aggressive play.  This is one of the more forgiving and open fairway golf courses at the PGA National Resort.

The Estate

Designed by Karl Litten, the Estate is the second shortest course at the PGA National Resort and has a mix of challenging as well as easy holes.  Although some holes are less challenging, there are many fairway bunkers and water hazards on all 18 holes, which encourage accurate tee shots and ball placement.

The Haig

Designed by Tom Fazio as a tribute to Walter Hagen, the Haig was the first course to open at the PGA National Resort & Spa. Fazio designed the course with all levels of golfers in mind.  There are no crossing water hazards on the course.  This allows golfers to play around the hazards if they choose.  The Haig is the second longest course at the PGA National at 6,806 yards and is set up well for those days when 9-hole’s is enough.

The Squire

Designed by Tom Fazio and named after the immortal Gene Sarazen, the Squire is the shortest course at the PGA National Resort.  Deemed “the thinking mans course” due to its doglegs and smaller greens, the Squire will test the accuracy of the long as well as short hitter.
