Park Ave

Park Avenue in Winter Park is the heart of the city. It’s where the brick streets, shops, restaurants, and Rollins College all surround the large park and train station. 

Travel in any direction from Park Avenue and you will see beautiful lakes lined with homes.

Winter Park is on the northeast side of Orlando


Park Ave is downtown Winter Park. If you are a visitor to central Florida then consider spending a few hours on Park Ave. The park in the Center of Winter Park is huge - about three blocks long and is filled with towering Oak Trees.

On the south end of the Park is a rose garden and several sweet smelling gardenia bushes. In the center of the Park is the fountain.

And on the North side of the Park is a stage for concerts and the train station. The park runs parallel to Park Ave, which is lined with shops and restaurants.

On Saturday from 7am until 1pm there is a farmers market with great food such as fresh bagels and pastries, and fresh coffee and homemade lemonade.  The lemonade is really tasty.

There are also many vendors selling fresh fruit, vegetables, and plants. The Winter Park Farmers Market is held in an old train depot one block west of Park Ave at the corner of New England and New York Ave. One Saturday a year in March when the Winter Park Art Festival is held the Farmers Market is not open.

Winter Park Restaurants

There are several restaurants on Park Ave in Winter Park, FL. For breakfast or brunch try Briarpatch on the north end of Park Ave. They serve breakfast all day on Saturday and Sunday and the food is excellent.

On the south end of Park Ave just a few feet of Fairbanks Ave is Sakura Sushi. On our last trip to Winter Park we ate at Sakura twice and it was great.

Amtrak Station in Winter Park

Right in the center of Park Ave is a Central Park and the train station. Train service to Winter Park began in 1880 and started a real estate boom. Original settlers in Winter Park were wealthy people from northern states coming to Florida for the warm winters. The addition of train service made it easier and travel to Winter Park and the area grew.

Winter Park College

On the South End of Park Ave is Rollins College, which was founded in 1885 and is Florida’s oldest recognized college. Rollins is a consistently ranked as on of America’s Top Colleges. And the MBA program at Rollins College was ranked number 1 overall by Forbes Magazine.

Rollins College has a beautiful campus that is Spanish-Mediterranean style and sits on lake Virginia. If you are in the area consider taking a walk around the campus or if want a unique view take the Winter Park Boat Tour and you can see Rollins College from the lake.
