Key Biscayne

Key Biscayne is an island community just south of Miami Beach and East of Miami Florida. Connected by bridges to the mainland, Key Biscayne juts out into Biscayne Bay with Bill Baggs Cape State Park on the tip.

The Island of Key Biscayne is tiny, less than 2 square miles but it includes beaches at Crandon Park and Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park, a Hotel, marina, golf course, homes and condos.

Crandon Park Beach

Crandon Park Beach is 2 miles of white sandy beach on the Atlantic Ocean


To get to Key Biscayne you pass through a $1 toll booth onto Rickenbacker Causeway and drive about 6 miles. Along the way you will see beaches on the causeway on both the north and south sides that are for popular swimming, windsurfing, kitsurfing, and hanging out in the water.

Crandon Park

Almost the entire north side of Key Biscayne is beach. Crandon Park is a public beach with plenty of parking,  2 miles of beaches, picnic areas with grills and shelters,  and a winding beachside path with concession stands.  Crandon Park Beach is one of the top ten beaches in the country.

Cabanas on the Beach
Amoung the palm trees on Crandon Park Beach are Cabanas that offer a break from the sun, include a private shower and a private parking space and picnic table. The Cabanas are available for rental and are lockable. To rent a cabana call (305) 365-3002.

The Crandon Park Beach has a gently sloping shoreline with shallow water perfect for wading that leads to water six to twelve feet deep.  There are lifeguard towers every 150 yards.

Crandon Park Marina

Just over the second bridge on Rickenbacker Causeway is the Crandon Park Marina. The marina has slips for boats up to 80 feet, a mooring field, a boat ramp, bait and tackle store, dive shop, and a fuel dock.

Other services at Crandon Park Marina include a restaurant, boat rentals, fishing charters, trailer storage, and a marine store.

Crandon Golf Course

Surrounded by water and mangroves, the golf course on Key Biscayne called Crandon Golf has been described as lush, tropical, and beautiful. The setting is unique and the golf course is known as tough and upscale.

The 18 hole course (par 72) is considered challenging and has seven saltwater lakes and a subtropical lagoon. Other services include:

Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Beach

On the tip of Key Biscayne is Cape Florida - Bill Baggs State Park Beach. Cape Florida is an isolated beach surrounded by trees. There are pavilions for picnics, and there is a seawall where you can fish.

From the southern tip of the park you get a great view of the Ocean, Biscayne Bay and Stiltsville a handful of houses that sit out on in the bay on stilts.

Hotels on Key Biscayne

Key Biscayne is a perfect place to relax, go fishing, play golf, or just sit on a beautiful beach. It’s also an excellent place for biking and almost every weekend you will see groups of bicyclists enjoying the fresh ocean air.  But Key Biscayne is also a short drive from downtown Miami so if you are visiting Miami on business you may want to consider staying on Key Biscayne.

Hotels on Key Biscayne

If you grew up in Miami or Key Biscayne you remember the Sonesta Hotel on Key Biscayne. But today the Sonesta is gone and on that fantastic location is a 15 story condo building called Oceana under construction. Today the only hotel on Key Biscayne is the Ritz Carlton.
