The Chapman School of Seamanship was founded in 1971 to provide boater education. Their motto is “Learn at the Helm” and they have classes and training programs for anyone who wants to be a safe boater or a professional captain. There are even summer training for youths starting at age 11.
Professional Mariner Training

Youth Boating Programs
Youths age 11 to 17 can take courses for recreational boating and to prepare for careers in the boating industry. The programs are typically 30 hours over 5 days.

The Chapman school is located on 8 waterfront acres and has an extensive fleet of boats including powerboats and sailboats of all sizes.
Private Lessons
If you are a new boat owner or just want a refresher course Chapman offers private lessons that include classroom work and training on your boat.
