Living in Florida

Local Color Boutique

One of my favorite clothing and jewelry boutiques in Key West is Local Color.  Their unique jewelry lines reflect the Keys with natural stones, sea glass, gemstones from the Caribbean, and beautiful shells.

They also have linen and soft cotton clothing in casual and more formal styles.

Blowing Rocks Beach, Jupiter

Blowing Rocks is a unique beach because during high tide waves shoot up through holes in the limestone shoreline. Located on Jupiter Island, blowing rocks is a preserve.

Cheeca Lodge and Spa

A beautiful resort nestled along the Atlantic Ocean on Islamorada, Cheeca Lodge is a private gated resort in the Florida Keys with all the water sports, golf, tennis, biking, and relaxation you’ll need.

John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park

On Key Largo in the Florida Keys at Mile Marker 102.5, you’ll find the award winning John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park.  Home to the only living coral reef in the United States, the reef begins in Miami and stretches 221 miles down the Keys to the Dry Tortugas near Key West.

It is the third largest living coral reef in the world.  You can enjoy year round swimming, snorkeling, and scuba diving at the John Pennekamp state park.

Ponte Vedra Beach

Ponte Vedra is known for its beach. The primary beach area is Micklers Landing, which is at the south end of Highway A1A - the intersection of Mickler Road and Highway A1A.

Alligator Farm

You’ll come face to face with alligators and crocodiles from around the world at the St Augustine Alligator Farm.  Opened in 1893, this historic landmark is one of the oldest zoos in the USA.

St Lucie Medical Center

The St Lucie Medical Center is the main hospital in Port St Lucie Florida. The hospital is located at 1800 SE Tiffany Avenue. This Port St Lucie Hospital has an emergency room and also offers Fast Track Services between 10am and 10pm.

Sunpass

Sunpass is the fastest way to cruise through tolls booths on many Florida highways. Sure it saves you money because you pay a lower toll but cruising through the toll booth without stopping is even a bigger savings - time.

Martin County Residents Guide

Martin County is located on Florida’s east coast directly north of Palm Beach County. The region is called the Treasure Coast because of the large number of Spanish galleons that wrecked off the coast during the 17th and 18th centuries carrying gold and silver coins, jewelry and other artifacts.  The Treasure Coast runs along the Atlantic Ocean and includes several coastal counties: Indian River County, St Lucie County, and Martin County.

Martin County Artifical Reefs

Martin County and the City of Stuart are known for excellent fishing but many residents and visitors don’ know that some of the best fishing is on four (4) artificial reefs that sit between Jensen Beach and Stuart.

Florida Fishing Guide

Florida is known as the Fishing Capital of the World. And one of the best ways to catch the fish Florida is famous for is to fish with a professional fishing guide. Being a fishing guide in Florida requires both being a fishing expert and having a captains license.

Gainesville Private Schools

While Gainesville is famous for the University of Florida the public schools are about average for the State of Florida. The result is that some parents who can afford it put their children in private schools.

Dubsdread Golf Course

On the northern edge of Orlando almost on the border of Winter Park is Dubsdread Public Golf course.

The course is just minutes from downtown Orlando and features an 18-hole course that is a relatively short 6,055 yards and a great restaurant.
