Robotics Camp

This one week highly interactive camp in Pensacola Florida challenges students to the engineering process of designing and building robots.  The Robotics Camp is from July 23 - 27, 2012 at the University of West Florida.

SciGirls Summer Camp

The National High Magnectic Field Laboratory and WFSU runs this two (2) week summer camp to engage middle and high school girls in hands on activities to learn more about the sciences.  Each day, the summer campers take field trips and explore new areas of science.

Orlando Magic Overnight Basketball Camp

Take your basketball game to the next level working on skills used by NBA Champions.  This overnight summer camp takes place Monday, July 9 through Friday, July 13 at Warner University in Lake Wales Florida.

Tampa Bay Lightning Summer Hockey Camp

Boys and girls ages 6 - 16 can develop their skills, conditioning, and power skating through this high-tempo summer camp.  On- ice instruction given from Lightning Alumnus and two time NHL All Star, Brian Bradley.  Special appearances by Dave Andreychuk.

Vince Carters Basketball Camp

The Vince Carter Youth Basketball Academy is held at in Daytona Beach Florida at the Vince Carter Athletic Center. Camp is for boys and girls ages 8 to 17.

Pensacola Opera Summer Camp

The Pensacola Opera holds an annual Opera Summer Camp for students ages 6 - 16 at the Opera Center in Pensacola, Florida.  Students will participate in audition techniques, seat and costume design and makeup.  Vocal coaching and dramatic training enhance each student’s camp experience.

Marching Band Leadership Camp

The FSU Marching Band Leadership Summer Camp is designed for drum majors, section leaders, band captains and other band personnel with instruction focusing on developing strong leadership and communication skills. 

FSU Middle School Band Camp

The FSU Middle School Symphonic Band Camp offers top of the line instruction from FSU College of Music faculty members as well as other recognized teachers and conductors.  This camp is designed to give students performance instruction, improve playing techniques and an opportunity to participate in small and large ensembles.   

North Palm Beach Rock Music Camp

Aerospace Summer Camp

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach Florida is hosting Aerospace I and Aerospace II resident camps.  Aerospace I is for high school students ages 15 to 18 from June 24- July 13.  Aerospace II is for high school students ages 15 - 18 from July 18 - August 8.

Sea Camp Florida Keys

The Sea Camp on Big Pine Key engages campers in marine science by studying America’s only living coral reef and its inhabitants in the Florida Keys.

Since 1966, Seacamp has opened up the world of marine science exploration and SCUBA diving to teens ages 12 to 17 from all over the world. 

Camp Frontier Summer Camp

Located on 200 acres, Camp Frontier offers indoor and outdoor adventures with 30 plus activities for campers to participate in.  Camp Frontier is located just south of Tampa in Wimauma Florida.

FSU String Orchestra Summer Camp

The Florida State University College of Music offers the String Orchestra Camp in June and July.  The FSU String Orchestra Band Camp offers summer campers the opportunity to study with some of the nation’s top orchestra conductors as well as study music theory and techniques. Rehearsals and small ensembles are performed daily.   

Dolphin Camp

Learn about dolphins while interacting directly with a colony of bottlenose dolphins in their natural habitat at the Dolphin Research Center in Grassy Key Florida.  The Florida Summer Camps helps campers learn and appreciate the marine mammals and the environment we share.

Double Bass Summer Camp Workshop

The Florida State University College of Music Summer Camp program offers a Double Bass Workshop for students attending grades 6 to 12 during the 2011-2012 school year.

FSU Guitar Summer Camp

The FSU Guitar Summer Camp workshop is for guitarists of all ability levels.  Individual instruction and guitar ensemble classes will be offered.  A final performance will be held on Saturday, June 23. 

Florida Panther Summer Hockey Schools

Florida Panther Hockey Schools provide expert hockey instruction in a fun and positive atmosphere for beginning to elite athletes.  All hockey camps will include camp jersey, on- and off - ice instruction, low player to coach ratio, progressive training techniques, appearances by Florida Panther players, and lots of fun.

Miami Rock Music Boot Camp

Become a rock star at this summer camp in Miami for kids ages 9 to 18 .  The Miami School of Rock Summer Camp immerses campers in music with fellow kid musicians in a concentrated program that covers: group teaching, singing exposure, group ensembles and rehearsals, performance techniques, as well as recording basics.

Mote Marine Ecology of the Florida Keys

The Mote Marine Lab in Sarasota organizes this week long sleep away camp by setting up base camp at the Mote’s Tropical Research Laboratory on Summerland Key in the Florida Keys.  Campers will snorkel or scuba on Looe Key, Sombrero Reef, John Pennekamp State Park, as well as an all-day trip to Dry Tortugas National Park.

FSU Boys Lacrosse Camp

Lacrosse players will be taken through drills to improve skills, game strategies, tactics, and techniques at the FSU Lacrosse camp in Tallahassee Florida.  There will be individual position instruction, innovative and fun drills, team drills, and team games.

Ocala Outdoor Adventure Camp

An action packed week long camp on a 57 acre peninsula on Lake Eaton in the Ocala National Forest in Marion County Florida. This summer program teaches campers the necessary skills to become better sportsmen and women in regards to firearm safety and caring of wildlife. The outdoor adventures include fishing, canoeing, swimming, hiking, archery, outdoor survival skills, gun safety, hunter safety, and shooting sports.

FSU Double Reed Summer Camp

Embry Riddle Aeronautical University’s Summer Academy in Daytona Beach FL is hosting GEMS - Girls Exploring Math and Science Summer Camp for Girls from June 11 - 15, 2012.

Art Summer Camp

Boca Raton Museum of Art is holding its annual Youth Summer Camp, Exploring the World Through Art, from June 10 - August 3, 2012 for children ages 5-12.  The program offered in eight 1-week sessions is designed to develop students appreciate and understand the visual arts.

Jr Marine Biologist Program

Summer campers have fun learning about endangered sea turtles, marine life, and take trips to the beach at the Loggerhead Marinelife Center in Juno Beach Florida.  The summer camp program called the Jr. Marine Biologist has weekly themes geared for students entering Grades 2 - 12. 

Alexander Summer Camp

Alexander Camp in Miami is a day camp that offers a wide variety of activities including go karts, archery, moonwalk, tennis, cookouts, and swimming. There are also indoor activities such as arts and crafts, movies, video games and aerobics.

Chapman School of Seamanship camp

Boating courses are offered during the summer months for youth ages 11 to 17 years old at the Chapman School of Seamanship in Stuart Florida on the Treasure Coast. The 1 week sessions teach youth how to operate power boats in a classroom setting with boat
handling on the water.

MOTE Summer Camps

MOTE in Sarasota has some great summer camps to learn about marine science, go snorkeling, take boat trips, and go kayaking or scuba diving. Campers explore the habitats of the ocean by visiting the Mote Aquarium and taking adventures out in the ocean.

Billy Donovan Basketball Camps

Basketball camp takes place in the air conditioned Stephen C. O’Connell Center Florida gym and Gator Basketball facility at the University of Florida in Gainesville Florida. Campers will go through basketball drills, individual and team competitions. The overnight campers stay on campus in air conditioned dorm rooms (two per room) and have breakfast, lunch, and dinner in an all you can eat cafeteria.  Day campers have lunch and dinner provided.

Dream Oaks Camp

Dream Oaks Camp is open to children with physical and developmental disabilities and chronic serious illnesses.  Activities are adapted for individual abilities and include canoeing, boat rides, sports and games, horseback riding, fishing, swimming, talent shows, arts and crafts, and more.

Busch Gardens Adventure Camp

Busch Gardens in Tampa Bay has summer camps for ages preschool through college.  The Adventure Camps let campers explore animals and animal life as well as have the opportunities to participate in field studies and adventures.  The theme park oriented camps show campers how a theme park operates and how roller coasters work. 

Jr. Forensic Science

Dust off your magnifying glass and get ready to explore and examine the world of criminal science the Jr Forensic Science Camp in Pensacola Florida.  Students use their knowledge and creative thinking skills to solve cases. They will analyze teeth marks on gum, shoe prints, fiber/hair samples, handwriting analysis, and other fun activities.

SeaWorld Summer Camp

The SeaWorld Orlando Day and Resident Camps have lots of fun to offer each and every camper, from up close animal encounters, take-home crafts for the preschoolers to preparing a high schooler for a career in working with animals.

iD Tech Summer Camps- Miami

The University of Miami is hosting a summer long camp for computer and technology enthusiasts ages 7 to 17 from June 11 - July 20. The iD Tech Camps is for beginner to advanced students who want to learn to build video games, movies, websites, and robots.  Technology savvy camp instructors with industry experience will direct the student campers throughout the week to complete a project by week end.

Camp Discovery

Summer campers dig for dinosaur bones, examine fossils, build greenhouses, and make candy at Camp Discovery taking place at the Museum of Discovery and Science in Fort Lauderdale Florida.  Each week has a different theme with hands on experiences that encourage critical thinking with the sciences. All camps include an IMAX Film Adventure.

Rock Music Boot Camp

A fun filled week of surf camp on Cocoa Beach at the Best Western Oceanfront.  Florida Surf Lessons was rated one of the best surf camps by Newsweek magazine.  If you know 3 or more people interested, you can also build your own surf camp.

Disney Studios New York Film Academy Summer Camp

Held at the Disney Studios in Orlando and hosted by the New York Film Academy, this unique summer camp gives students the chance to shoot films and act in professional movie sets in realistic environments.  The lots where filming takes place are fully dressed sets - Hollywood Boulevard, New York City Street, Chinatown, and London Streets.  Campers are introduced to film making, acting, screenwriting, and digital journalism. 

Camp Illahaw Adventure Camp at Forever Florida

Camp Illahaw is a week long overnight Horse and Adventure Camp on a 4700 acre wildlife conservation in St Cloud Florida. There are many diverse activities for the campers to enjoy while also learning to work on a real-life working cattle ranch.

FSU Jazz Ensemble Summer Camp

The Florida State University College of Music Jazz Ensemble Summer Camps offers specialized musical instruction for both middle school and high school students.  The workshop offers study in jazz history, theory and individual performance techniques, and participation in one of two big bands. 

Circle F Dude Ranch Summer Camp

Circle F Dude Ranch is celebrating it’s 60th year in Lake Wales Florida! The camp offers numerous activities each day and a fun evening program at night.  Camp activities include horseback riding, paintball, swimming, archery, tennis, volleyball, cheerleading, nature and craft activities.  Campers are placed in a cabin group by age and school grade with an average of two counselors per 10 campers.

Camp Jam

Camp Jam is a Rock and Roll summer day camp held in Orlando, Florida.  Camp Jam provides an interactive and educational music experience for campers during a week of fun and excitement.  Camp Jam’s teachers help each student understand the different aspects of playing in a real rock and roll band along with other fun and musical ways to develop their talents.

FSU Honors Piano Camp

The FSU Honors Piano Camp was designed to give students the chance to work with the professional FSU faculty in individualized sessions.  This camp will consist of private lessons, study of music theory, study of piano literature and a chance to take a unique four-hand piano class. 

Camp Crystal Lake

Camp Crystal Lake is 140 acres owned and operated by the Alachua County School System.  It is located off of State Road 100 between Keystone Heights and Starke.  With two crystal clear lakes and sandy bottoms, it offers a wide range of outdoor activities for kids during summer camp. It is a structured camp with set schedules every day following the weekly theme.  Each camper can select their own activities for the week (it is not by cabin.)  A total of 160 campers attend every week and the girls and boys cabins are separated.

Mike Martin Baseball Camp

Baseball campers develop individual skills through instruction, individual and multi-player drills, video tapes and game experience as well as interaction with players off the field in a great camp setting. Campers will work hard but have fun doing so at the Mike Martin Baseball Field at the Dick Howser Stadium at Florida State University in Tallahassee Florida.

FSU Choral Ensemble Camp

The Florida State University Choral Ensemble Camp provides each student with many different experiences and performing opportunities.  Students take part in a big, mixed ensemble and participate in a women’s and men’s choir with each preparing their own concert music.  All students participate in a music-theatre final performance that includes a Friday night concert.

Sarasota Youth Sailing Camps

The Sarasota Youth Sailing Program offers weekly summer camp programs for youth sailors in Sarasota and Manatee Counties starting June 5 and running through August 10, 2012. Campers will learn the joy of sailing and be taught boat handling, seamanship, water safety skills and racing in a safe and fun environment.

Orlando Magic Summer Camps

The Orlando Magic hosts several types of camps throughout the summer.  The summer camps range from mini camps for ages 5 and up to overnight camps for pre-teen and teenagers.

South Florida Science Museum Summer Camps

The US Sailing Center in Martin County offers summer camps from June 11 - August 10, 2012. Beginner and intermediate sailing summer camps are offered for ages 7 to 17 years.  Youth learn to sail and race in a safe and positive sportsmanship environment. New for 2012, “Little Skippers” a half-day program for ages 5 - 7 has been added to the curriculum.

Life for Youth Camp

An action packed week of outdoor and indoor activities at Life for Youth in Vero Beach Florida.  Day and sleep away campers choose their own track full of activities such as go-carts, giant water slide, swimming, BMX bikes, kayaking, fishing, mini golf, climbing wall, archery, paddle boats, dodge ball, basketball, bounce houses, and plenty of other fun.

Evert Tennis Academy Summer Camp

The Evert Tennis Academy Summer Camp in Boca Raton is for beginners, competitors and internationally ranked tennis players.  Campers are grouped based on similar abilities. 

Camps are set up for specific training and have small student-coach ratios of 4:1 or less.

Cypress House Ranch Horse Camp

A week long camp for girls that love horses.  Summer campers go for daily rides, brush and clean horses as well as enjoy many outdoor activities including swimming. 

Ron Jon Summer Surf Camp

Started in 1993, Ron Jon’s Surf Camp in Cocoa Beach offers summer programs from May through August.  Surfers must be age 7 or older and able to swim.  Professional surfers are instructors for summer camp from the Ron Jon Surf School.

IMG Soccer Summer Camp

IMG Soccer Summer Camp in Bradenton attracts serious soccer players age 10-19 for a week camp or multiple week series. Each week focuses on individual skills, tactics, team play, and execution.

IMG Basketball Summer Camp

Located on Big Pine Key in the lower half of the beautiful Florida Keys, Sea Camp is nestled between the Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic Ocean.  It offers access to unique underwater environments where campers study spectacular sponge flats, diverse seagrass beds, unique coral and algae shoals and the amazing coral reef located at Looe Key National Marine Sanctuary.

At Alexander Summer Camp daily activities are designed to help develop skills while promoting safety and fun.  There is a daily mix of relaxed indoor and high energy outdoor fun.  All activities have shaded areas. 2012 Summer Camp Descriptions:

1.  Summer Boating for Youth (introduction to boating): 
The introduction to boating and operating power boats is for ages 11 to 17 years old. The weekly camps are available from June 11 - August 10, 2012.  The camp is 30 hours over 5 days and meets from 9am-3:30pm Monday - Friday.  The cost for 1 week is $400.  Classes are limited 16 students.

Summer Boating for Youth Description - teaches young men and women the skills required to operate a small power vessel. The course teaches the importance of safety, environmental responsibility and the dangers of boat operations while under the influence of drugs or alcohol. It prepare the student to take the Florida State Boating Basics Exam.

2. Advanced Summer Boating for Youth (advanced):

3. Summer Boating for Youth - Voyager (advanced) -
The Summer Boating for Youth Voyager course is for ages 14 to 17 years old. There are two week long camps available, the week of July11th and the week of August 1st.  The camp is 30 hours over 5 days.  The cost for 1 week is $475.  Classes are limited for 3 to 6 students per class.

Summer Boating for Youth - Voyager is the course to take after completing the first two courses listed above.  This course will teach the skills to safely plan and navigate a coastal offshore voyage.  The course teaches advanced navigational skills, chart reading, rescue techniques, survival at sea, 4 hours of boating handling, and 6 hour voyage outside the St Lucie Inlet to Fort Pierce and return. Classes meet daily Monday thru Friday the weeks of July 9 and July 30 from 9am - 3:30pm. The cost per week is $475.

Camp Illahaw Activities

The adventure camp has numerous activities included in its camp along with some extra activities that require an extra fee to cover costs associated with specific activities.

Camp Type: Day Camp

Age Range: Sailing camp meets Mon. - Fri. in 5 sessions for ages 5 to 18 years old. On the first day of class, all children are required to pass a swim test by swimming 25 yards wearing the clothes they will be sailing in along with a lifejacket and shoes.  For the Tadpoles summer camp, sailors must have reached their 5th birthday by June 1, 2012.  For the main program, sailors must have reached their 8th birthday by June 1, 2012.

Camp Descriptions:
Tadpoles Level 1 (pre-beginner program) for ages 5 - 7 years old.  Class size is maximum 8 students. Tadpoles is a “pre-beginner” program designed to introduce younger children to formal sailing instruction. Tadpoles meet four mornings or afternoons a week. The children will be introduced to boats and water activities, including swimming, rowing, sailing and basically “messing about in boats.”

Tadpoles Level 2 (pre-beginner program) for ages 5 - 7 years old. Class size is maximum 8 students. The Tadpoles Level Two class builds on the skills learned in Tadpoles Level One.  The camp helps kids remain comfortable on the water while learning more about the environment around them and how to properly navigate a boat.

Level 1 Optimist (beginner) for ages 8 - 11 years old. Class size is maximum 14 students. The Level 1 Optimist Beginner class is help children gain positive experiences on the water and while sailing. They will build confidence while learning safety, demonstrating respect, courtesy to others, and good teamwork. Upon completion students should feel comfortable sailing alone in an Optimist dinghy.

Additional Courses for more Advanced Sailors:

Camp Type: Day Camp

The USSCMC (US Sailing Center, Martin County) has trained more than 5,000 youths in sailing since 1994.  The skills youth learn help build physical and mental strength while teaching them greater sailing ability, self confidence on the water, goal setting, achievement, and the understanding of boating safety.

Camp Price: Summer camp is $250 per week per student for the first week, $200 for the second week, and $175 per week for any additional weeks that a student signs up for. Half-day “Skippers” is $125 and Fast Track program is $375.

Camp Descriptions:
Opti Basic is for new or beginning sailors ages 7 to 12 with little or no experience on the water. By the end of class, campers will be able to rig an Opti, get it off the beach and go sailing.

Opti Intermediate is for students who have completed at least one session as a beginner and is ready for new challenges. The emphasis is on developing confidence to sail alone and includes an introduction to racing.

Opti Advanced/ Intro to Racing for students ages 8 - 13.  This class is for the student who displays basic sailing competence and is eager to work on improved boat handling and racing skills.

Dinghy Basic is for new sailors ages 12 to 17 who want to learn to drive something their parents can’t!  Spend your week on the water learning to rig, skipper, and sail a dinghy.

Dinghy Intermediate is for sailors ages 12 to 17 who have basic sailing competence and are ready for additional challenges of faster dinghies. Campers learn the cooperation and seamanship it takes to master tacking, jibing, sail trim and steering. 

Laser and 420 Advanced/ Intro to Racing is a class for middle and high schoolers who are interested in racing.  This class helps prepare students to participate with their High School Sailing Teams.

Fast Track to Competitive High School Sailing- This 2-week class will take a beginning sailor and prepare them for the High School racing program focusing on 420s and Lasers.

Since 1959, Life for Youth Camp has hosted summer campers.  It is a non-denominational Christian camp that mixes in bible study and evening activities with outdoor and indoor fun, activities, and sports.

Age Range:

Sleep away campers check in on Sunday afternoon and check out on Friday afternoon, for ages 8 to 16 years old.  There are up to 220 resident campers every week and 120 staff and counselors.

Camp Type: Day Camp

Live Modern School of Music is offering two paths for young musicians. New music students can take a one week boot camp that is designed to have students playing on their first day. Intermediate or advanced music students an improve their skills in a two week session.

Beginner music students get instrument coaching, rehearse with a band and take part in specialized music labs.

Camp Type: Sleepaway Camp

The summer campers will go horseback riding, swimming, arts and crafts, kayaking, and enjoy animals.  With a 4 to 1 camper counselor ratio, most campers spend 4-5 hours a day with their horse.  They train in several different riding styles as well as show jumping, dressage and cross country.  The late afternoon is a time for extra fun rids, games, trail riding and swimming. 

Age Range: Ages 7-17 years old.

2010 Pricing: $950 for a weekly session.

Camp Overview:

Week long, overnight camp sessions with cabins attached to the barn so summer campers can eat, breathe and sleep by their horse. Campers can bring their own horse (or catch one of ours.) Open to all levels: beginner to advanced, ages 7-17.

Clinics in dressage, stadium jumping, cross country, hunter-jumpers, horse and barn management, braiding, grooming to show, importance of good nutrition, and good farrier work.

Hundreds of trail acres in the Goethe State Forest, field trips, and more. Demonstration and end of camp costume show. Top-notch training in a non-competitive environment.
