Camp Type: Day Camp
There are 3 different type of Boating Summer Camps offered at Chapman’s School of Seamanship in Martin County Florida.
2012 Summer Camp Descriptions:
1. Summer Boating for Youth (introduction to boating):
The introduction to boating and operating power boats is for ages 11 to 17 years old. The weekly camps are available from June 11 - August 10, 2012. The camp is 30 hours over 5 days and meets from 9am-3:30pm Monday - Friday. The cost for 1 week is $400. Classes are limited 16 students.
Summer Boating for Youth Description - teaches young men and women the skills required to operate a small power vessel. The course teaches the importance of safety, environmental responsibility and the dangers of boat operations while under the influence of drugs or alcohol. It prepare the student to take the Florida State Boating Basics Exam.
Class covers:
-Seamanship, Safety and Environmental Concerns
-Safety Equipment Usage
-Hands On Instruction (docking, anchoring, maneuvering, line handling)
2. Advanced Summer Boating for Youth (advanced):
The advanced boating course is for ages 14 to 17 years old. There are two week long camps available, the week of July 2th and the week of July 16th. The camp is 30 hours over 5 days. The cost for 1 week is $385. Classes are limited for 3 to 12 students per class.
Advanced Summer Boating for Youth Description - teaches young men and women the skills required to maintain a boat, navigate, and advanced seamanship.

-Hands On Instruction
3. Summer Boating for Youth - Voyager (advanced) -
The Summer Boating for Youth Voyager course is for ages 14 to 17 years old. There are two week long camps available, the week of July11th and the week of August 1st. The camp is 30 hours over 5 days. The cost for 1 week is $475. Classes are limited for 3 to 6 students per class.
Summer Boating for Youth - Voyager is the course to take after completing the first two courses listed above. This course will teach the skills to safely plan and navigate a coastal offshore voyage. The course teaches advanced navigational skills, chart reading, rescue techniques, survival at sea, 4 hours of boating handling, and 6 hour voyage outside the St Lucie Inlet to Fort Pierce and return. Classes meet daily Monday thru Friday the weeks of July 9 and July 30 from 9am - 3:30pm. The cost per week is $475.

Take Exit 101 (Rt. 76)
Travel northeast on Rt. 76 about 4/10s mile to Cove Road.
Turn right onto Cove Road.
Travel east about 4.3 miles to Old Dixie Hwy (A1A) roundabout.
Turn left onto A1A.
Travel north 3 lights (about 1 mile) to the next roundabout.
Turn right onto S.E. St. Lucie Blvd.
Chapman School entrance is about 500 feet on the right.
